Q. How much does it cost to record and produce music?

A. Unfortunately there is no simple answer to that question. We take the time to discuss with you all the moving parts of your project: goals, budget, timeline, possibilities, etc. In general, we start with a $75 per hour rate for music production, but this varies depending on the nature of the work, and sometimes we use a project rate. We love making music, and we strive to make working with us affordable. Contact us for a free consultation about your music.

Q. How much do the music business services cost?

A. There is no simple answer to this question either, sorry! Our per hour rate starts at $33, and some services will have a project rate. As with music production, we will consult with you to discuss your goals, budget, timeline, scope, etc. Our goal is to help artists build a solid and sustainable music career. Contact us for a free consultation about your music career, even if you feel like calling it a “career” is aspirational at this point.

Q. What happens after we record?

A. You’ll get your recording via a download link or physical medium. There are several places we can recommend mastering your tracks after we’ve completed recording, as your tracks will need to be mastered before distribution. We can also help with the distribution, publishing, and promotion of your music.

Q. Who owns music recorded at studio sassafras?

A. We will discuss this at the initial meeting and throughout the whole process. When all we do is record your original music, you will own 100% of your music. If you utilize our production service, the ownership and royalty percentages of the master recordings and compositons/songs will correlate with the amount the producer has composed/written with you and the rate of compensation. This will be an on-going discussion in which we are committed your 100% comfort and satisfaction.
